How to install WordPress on Windows Machine.
This tutorial will walk you through the installation process of the WordPress on a local machine (localhost). Here we use Xampp as a local web server.
The first step to installing WordPress is download and install the latest version of Xampp webserver. You can see step by step guide to install Xampp here, How to install Xampp.
1. Download WordPress.
To download the latest version of WordPress, click on following link https://wordpress.org/download. Select “Download WordPress”.
Once you finish the download, extract the file.
unzip all files from your WordPress folder onto the previously-installed Xampp directory “C:\Xampp\htdocs”.
2.Create a database and a user.
It’s now time to create a database for WordPress. Go to phpMyAdmin and create a new database ‘wordpress’ to import data while installing wordpress:
Next, Go to privileges tab, to give privileges to a user. Click on “add a user account”.
Create the Database user by adding
+Hostname (Here it is localhost)
+password.We have to enter these details while installation.
Select Check all privileges to database ‘wordpress’ and click on ‘GO’ button
On next window Grant all database-specific privileges to the user. and click on ‘GO’ button.
3.Install WordPress Locally.
Assuming that we install WordPress to folder “wordpress”, now, go to your browser and access this link: http://localhost/wordpress
Now you will see WordPress installation interface. You can select the preferred language and Click “Continue”:
A landing page will open with instructions and general information. Click Let’s Go! to get started.
Complete all of the information fields needed, including Database Name ( wordPress ), Username , and Password. Then, click Submit.
Let’s run the installation,
Once the installation finishes you have to configure the new site by entering the Site title, Site email address, Site maintenance account username and password. This account is used to login administrator site. Then, click Install WordPress.
Voila! You have successfully installed WordPress on XAMPP. Log in to the administrative site and customize your website.
