How to PostgreSQL- Installing PostgreSQL
This tutorial will show you how to install PostgreSQL Database on your local system to learn and practice PostgreSQL.
Download PostgreSQL Database
You can start the download PostgreSQL from EnterpriseDB website. It leads you to the EnterpriseDB downloads, where you can download the prepackaged software. Select your operating system and version of database you want to download.
Install PostgreSQL 9.3 on Windows
These steps walk you through installing PostgreSQL. The following illustrates each step and its options for installation. The first dialog screen is the Setup – PostgreSQL dialog, which welcomes you and prompts you to start the installation of PostgreSQL. Click the Next button to continue.
The Installation Directory dialog sets the location for the PostgreSQL server. The Data Directory dialog sets the location for the PostgreSQL server’s data repository.
Enter the password for the database superuser and service account. Click the Next button to continue.
Setup dialog sets the database’s listener port, which is Port 5432 by default. Make sure that no other applications are using this port. Click the Next button to continue.
Choose the default locale used by the database. Click the Next button to continue.
Once you finished, Start the installation. The installation may take few minutes to complete.
Setup dialog confirms you’ve installed the add-on packages. Click the Finish button to complete the installation.
First, click on pgAdmin 4 from the start menu. The pgAdmin 4 will launch.
click on PostgreSQL 9 on the object browser. It will ask you for the admin password. Enter the superuser password to access the database.
The pgAdmin will display all the objects that belong to the server. You can use PostgreSQL shell from your Program Menu under PostgreSQL 9.2.
