How to MySQL- Install MySQL Server
In this guide, we are going to learn to install MySQL server on a windows computer.
To install MySQL on Windows environment, we are using MySQL installer which is the easiest way.
MySQL installer provides you with an easy-to-use wizard that helps you to install MySQL with the following components:
- MySQL Server
- All Available Connectors
- MySQL Workbench with Sample Data Models
- MySQL Notifier
- Tools for Excel and Microsoft Visual Studio
- MySQL Sample Databases
- MySQL Documentation
Download MySQL from https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/installer/. We’ll be downloading the MySQL Community Server Edition This single installer will allow you to install the 32bit or 64bit version of MySQL Server
If you have an online connection while running the MySQL Installer, choose the mysql-installer-web-community file.
If you do NOT have an online connection while running the MySQL Installer, choose the mysql-installer-community file.
Once you download the file, run the setup and install to the preferred location of your computer.
On the License Agreement page, Check the box to accept the license terms and press Next.
On the Choosing a Setup Type, choose Custom. you can decide exactly which packages to install. Select packages you want to install.
Checking installation Requirements. Install any missing requirements by pressing the Execute button, or go back to the previous page and change the packages that will be installed to remove the requirement. Once all of the requirements are met, press the Next button.
On Installation page, you will be shown a list of software that going to be install.
Once you complete installation, click next to configure MySQL server.
Choose Config Type (Development machine) and MySQL port (3306 by default) and click Next button to continue.
Choose a password for the root account. If you want to add more MySQL user, you can do it in this step.
Choose Windows service details including Windows Service Name and account type (Standard system account).
On plugin & Extension, click next to continue.
Execute check server configuration.
Review the product configuration and press next.
To connect to the server, check your root password and click next.
MySQL Installer is configuring MySQL database server. Wait until it is done and click Finish button.
Test the Installation
To test the installation, open the MySQL command line client and enter the root password.
