How to set up your Email account using Mozilla Thunderbird

Mozilla Thunderbird is a free email application that’s easy to set up and customize and it’s loaded with great features. Thunderbird is a free, open source, cross-platform email, news, RSS, and chat client. Thunderbird is an email, newsgroup, news feed, and chat (XMPP, IRC, Twitter) client. Additional features, if needed, are often available via other extensions. Here we are walking through the steps of how to setup email account using Mozilla Thunderbird. 1.Download and install Mozilla Thunderbird.
2.Collect Email server settings.
3.Setup Email accounts with Thunderbird.

 

1.Download and install Mozilla Thunderbird.

Download Mozilla Thunderbird from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/

Once you download the file, run the setup and install to the preferred location of your computer.

Select Standard setup from setup type, that will be installed with the most common options.

Click Finish to close the setup and to run Thunderbird on your computer.

Once you open Mozilla Thunderbird, You will see an empty dashboard with 4 options: Email, Chat, Newsgroups, and feeds. Thunderbird can manage multiple emails, newsgroup, and news feed accounts and supports multiple identities within accounts. Features such as quick search, saved search folders, advanced message filtering, message grouping, and labels help manage and find messages. To configure Thunderbird, you need email client configuration from your web hosting company.

2.Collect Email server settings from the web host.

Login to your web hosting account, locate email section from hosting control panel and open Email Management folder.

3.Setup Thunderbird Email account.

To begin the setup process, Go to Options> Account Settings from the main menu

 

Select Account Action from bottom left corner of account settings then selects Add Mail Account from the drop-down list.

Add Your name, Email address, and Password. Click or tap Continue. Select Manual configuration to add Email server details manually.

Add all Email server details that we collected from hosting account. Incoming and outgoing Server hostnames, ports, SSL, and Authentication method. Select Done when you finish.Thunderbird supports POP and IMAP. It also supports LDAP address completion. The built-in RSS/Atom reader can also be used as a simple news aggregator. Thunderbird supports the S/MIME standard, extensions such as Enigmail add support for the OpenPGP standard.
